The “verbena de San Juan”, one of the most anticipated celebrations of the year, lights up our streets every June 23rd with the sparkle of fireworks, firecrackers, and bonfires. However, pyrotechnics also bring significant risks to everyone’s health and safety.

At CreuBlanca, we care about your well-being and that of your loved ones. Therefore, we want to share 10 essential tips to prevent harm and enjoy a safe “San Juan Festival”.

- Buy approved pyrotechnic products from authorized retailers. Seek advice from professionals, and before using pyrotechnics, read the respective instructions.

- Do not store firecrackers in pockets, as they could ignite and explode.

- Do not place lit firecrackers near any part of the body or face. Doing so could result in serious accidents such as burns or trauma.

- Do not hold lit firecrackers in your hands. Place the firecrackers on the ground and light the fuse from the end to allow time to retreat.

- Do not launch firecrackers near wooded areas or crowds of people. Launching rockets or batteries less than 500 meters from the forest could start a wildfire. Do not ignite them if there are flammable liquids nearby, as they ignite easily and can explode. Additionally, do not throw any firecrackers at another person, as it could cause severe injury.

- Do not tamper with or cut pyrotechnic items.

- Do not place firecrackers inside any other objects, such as bricks or bottles, because when they explode, they produce shrapnel that flies uncontrollably.

- Do not light firecrackers inside houses, balconies, or windows. It is dangerous for those inside the house, the furniture, the dwelling, and for people outside.

- Close doors and windows of your house when there are fireworks or firecrackers outside, to prevent sparks or rockets from entering and causing accidents. Also, collect clothes hanging outside, awnings, garbage bags, plastic tables, or chairs to avoid potential accidents.

- If a firecracker does not explode, do not attempt to reuse it. Leave it alone, do not touch it for 30 minutes, as it is not safe. Afterwards, neutralize it by soaking it in water.
