This 2025, at CreuBlanca we are thrilled to celebrate a very special milestone: 75 years dedicated to caring for the health of our patients! An anniversary that invites us to look back with gratitude for everything we have achieved, to appreciate every step along the way, and to look forward to the future with the same commitment we have always had: to offer the best medical care.
Our beginnings date back to 1950 in Barcelona, when Dr. Gaspar Alomar, descendant of a long line of doctors, and Conchita Serrallach, a trained chemist and daughter of a doctor, together with a group of professionals, identified a need not yet covered in the city: an emergency and home medical care service. With this innovative vision, they began to forge what is today CreuBlanca.
As the demand for medical care grew, our healthcare group expanded its field of work and its range of services. With the opening of the first center on Pelai Street, we were pioneers in Spain in incorporating X-ray and magnetic resonance equipment, in addition to performing innovative medical check-ups to detect multiple pathologies at an early stage.
In the 80’s, Dr. Alomar, always a visionary, understood that in order to offer an effective treatment it was essential to have an accurate diagnosis. Thus Diagnosis Médica was born, a center specialized in radiodiagnosis, where the first CT scanner in Barcelona was installed. In just a few years, the center became a reference in private medicine with more than 80 doctors.
In the 1990s, we continued to open up new horizons with the CreuBlanca Tarradellas center, dedicated to the prevention and early diagnosis of female pathologies. However, the real breakthrough came at the end of the decade with the inauguration of the Clínica CreuBlanca, a milestone that marked our consolidation as a leading healthcare group. This new center, fully equipped with high-tech operating rooms and a modern and comfortable hospitalization area, allowed us to expand our healthcare capacity and offer comprehensive medical care, ranging from diagnosis to treatment in the same space.
Simultaneously, we opened two centers in Zaragoza, where we established our model based on medical excellence and backed by outstanding local professionals and cutting-edge technology.
The launch of Hospital CreuBlanca Maresme in 2024 is a key step in our expansion. This new state-of-the-art, digitized and sustainable center consolidates its position as a reference in the area thanks to its broad portfolio of specialties, its advanced diagnostic equipment and its patient-centered care model. In addition, the forthcoming opening of a complete surgical area and spacious rooms will complement the Hospital’s range of services.
Since our beginnings, we have been committed to a constant investment in state-of-the-art technology and a team of first class professionals to guarantee our patients fast and accurate diagnoses. Today, we have 16 latest-generation magnetic resonance equipment (6 of 3 teslas), 5 CT, 1 PET-CT, 1 gamma camera and 1 Spect-CT, in addition to ultrasound scanners and high-precision X-ray equipment.
What began 75 years ago as an emergency and home medical care service has evolved to become today a network of 5 centers in Catalonia and 2 in Aragon with more than 450 professionals. All this without losing sight of our initial mission: to offer excellent, close and reliable medical care.
We have come this way together. Each of our patients, with their trust, has been a fundamental part of our history.
